What you'll see at the Alhambra with each type of ticket

With these Alhambra of Granada tickets, the route changes depending on the option you choose, but in every case it's worth first understanding which part of the complex you'll be visiting. The general ticket grants access to the largest part of the monument, with the Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba, Partal and Generalife. The gardens ticket covers the outdoor, landscaped part of the site, without access to the Nasrid Palaces.

If you enter with the general ticket, the most recognisable part of the tour is usually the Nasrid Palaces, home to the best-preserved palatial section of the Alhambra. From there, the visit continues with the Alcazaba, where you learn about the site's defensive role, and the Generalife, linked to the estate, orchards and gardens. You'll also pass through areas such as the Partal, which help you better understand the layout of the complex.

If you choose the gardens option, the visit is more focused on the outdoor part of the monument. Here the route takes in the Generalife, the Cypress Walk, the historic gardens, the Secano and other open areas of the site, plus the visitable part of the Alcazaba. It's a good option if you want to explore the Alhambra without entering the Nasrid Palaces and focus on the landscaped, scenic part.

If you also book a guided tour, the visit is organised around the time slot assigned for access to the Nasrid Palaces, helping you better understand the relationship between the military section, the palatial section and the gardens. In that case, the full tour usually also includes the Palace of Charles V and the Secano, so the complex reads not just as a palace, but as a palace-city with defensive, residential and ceremonial functions.

Cancellation and change policy for tickets

The cancellation and change policy for this visit differs from that of our other tours because Alhambra tickets are personalised and fully tied to each visitor's ID documents. For that reason, once issued, they cannot normally be changed or cancelled.

If you need to change the date of your visit, you would need to pay again for the ticket, as that initial cost cannot be recovered. And if the booking is cancelled, the amount paid will not be refunded, except in very exceptional cases.

With your Alhambra of Granada ticket, it's worth planning your visit around the season and time slot. The official opening hours for the daytime visit are 8:30 am to 6:00 pm from 15 October to 31 March, and 8:30 am to 8:00 pm from 1 April to 14 October. The ticket offices open at 8:00 am in both periods.

If you book the general ticket, there's one key point that shapes the whole visit: entry to the Nasrid Palaces must take place at the exact time shown on your ticket. In addition, the Board recommends buying in advance due to high demand, and reminds visitors that tickets for individuals can be purchased online until 11:59 pm the day before the visit.

Before entering, check your chosen option carefully, arrive with plenty of time, and bring the required ID if the booking calls for it. For children under 12, admission is free, but the ticket must be issued at the same time as the rest of the group's.

Accessibility is fairly limited. If you use a wheelchair or a pushchair, keep in mind that the full route cannot be completed. The Alcazaba area cannot be seen by wheelchair, and both the Generalife and the Nasrid Palaces can only be visited in a reduced way. In addition, the guide recommends avoiding pushchairs and using a backpack or baby carrier instead.
